Many people have misconceptions about meditation, believing it involves long periods in which you still as a rock without moving at all. However, there are a few simple techniques that you can try out so you can sample some of the benefits of a regular meditation routine.
Before you start out on any relaxation meditation technique you should know how to have complete physical relaxation. A simple way to do this is to sit in a chair with your back straight and imagine a light rising slowing from the floor and cover your whole body starting at your feet first and going upwards until it reaches your head. When your body is completely covered by this light you will have a feeling of total relaxation and have a calm feeling within.
Another way to perform guided meditation is to visualize a safe haven for yourself. Somewhere you can completely relax and enjoy some alone time. Think about things like, what it’s made of, how big it is, or the temperature. Once you have fully imagined your haven you can picture yourself being there enjoying the experience. There are other techniques you can also use as well as this one, all you have to do is use your imagination.
People have many different ways they choose to perform relaxation meditation. You should always start out in a quiet place that your comfortable in where no one will disturb you. Don’t try to make your mind fully blank you should always try to concentrate on something. This is a big misconception when it comes to meditation. You will need to be in a comfortable position either sitting up or lying down, whatever is best for you. Another good things to do is to eat a light snack so that your stomach is not completely empty. Don’t force your self to concentrate it will come naturally when you just relax and let go. You will know this has worked from the feeling that you get inside.
